The Isle of Youth works to restore the vitality of electrical and telecommunications services in the shortest time possible, as these are the main effects caused by the passage of tropical storm Laura through western Cuba.
Adiel Morera Macias, vice president of the economic and social group of the Municipal Defense Council, commented to the local radio station that the linemen of the electricity company are working hard to restore the service, interrupted, mainly by downed lines and two damaged substations.
He specified that in the case of Cayo Largo del Sur, a tourist pole belonging to the special municipality, work is being done on the replacement of six electric poles that have been knocked down by the force of the winds.
Likewise, they are working on the revitalization of the telecommunications service to 74 clients and in a line of 100 pairs damaged by the fall of a tree in one of the Popular Councils of Nueva Gerona, reported Guadalupe Fernandez Malave, Etecsa communicator.
Fernandez Malave added that this tropical organism caused damage in 14 WiFi areas and a base radio, which present failures in the alternating current supply.
Morera Macias, also mayor of the Board of Directors, assured that it is expected in a few hours to return full vitality to the territory in these affected services, although these are preliminary data on the impact of tropical storm Laura on the special municipality.
