A plaque was unveiled at the Vietnam Heroic dam in homage to International Youth Day and the historic leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro, promoter of hydraulic development on the Isle of Youth.
Leaders and young people came to this place to reveal the faithful copy of the original plaque - today preserved in the Municipal Museum as part of the local heritage - and which recalls the presence of the Commander-in-Chief that August 12, 1967.
The autochthonous marble slab bears the following words from Fidel, pronounced on that occasion: "And for that reason our youth, more than an island of theirs, has the possibility of making the Island their own", which constituted a challenge and commitment for the columns juveniles that came to the terroir to contribute to its development.
There are several activities that take place in the Municipality on the occasion of the 94th birthday of dear Fidel, which reach the communities, where the residents evoke the one who taught that a better world is possible.
